Fashion icon of the month: Leandra Medine

A famous italian idiom says that "women dress themselves for women and get undressed for men". Well, this could perfectly be the guiding principle of Leandra Medine, the new protagonist of the section Fashion icon of the month.

By her own admission, she defines herself as a man repeller, a woman who wearing her clothes looks repellent to a man. This is the concept from which Leandra, young newyorker student of journalism, starts when, in 2010, she decides to create her own fashion blog, Manrepeller.com, in which she vents her hilarious reflections about how often fashion confuses, surpises and, sometimes, maybe pushes away men from women. Wearing garments like harem pants, boyfriend jeans and flash jewelry she shows off how they might rise to the role of "chic contraceptives"! The philosphy behind manrepeller.com is to dressing to please yourself because, you know what they say, a true fashonista would never, ever, change the way she dresses just to entice the less sartorially evolved desire of a man...

Among a trouty eye and a tongue, the blogger shows off an original style, for sure, at the same time refined and frizzy, that perfectly combines so different styles, couture garments and other low cost ones, for a result always cool and glamour!

Directly, funny and ironic (also self-deprecating), Leandra is one of the most loved fashion blogger on web, courted by fashion system: you can often see her, in fact, among the parterre of fashion shows and social events. From simple student to journalist, from blogger to editor, now also designer (she created a capsule collection for the brand Dannijo, here) and writer, Leandra has been able to build a respectful carreer, maintaining the spirit of who doesn't never take herself too seriously and is focused on her own style, rather than beauty. Among all the coolest fashion bloggers she's for sure my favourite. With easy and naturalness, she prooves every day to millions of people that you can be fashion even (and especially)  thinking outside the box and that often the coolest accessory a woman could wear is a healthy dose of self-irony!

Her way to dress, easy and chic, sometimes even a little bit eccentric, rflects perfectly her personality. Here, a short slideshow of her best looks. Main elements of her style are:
  • harem pants;
  • short skirts or pants;
  • boyfriend jeans;
  • oversized shirts or t-shirts, maybe to wear with a maxi cardigan;
  • wedges and high heels, because even she's a man repeller she's alwyas a woman;
  • maxi jewels;
  • eyeglasses nerd style of a true repeller.

Not only stylish and funny, but also social! Her profiles on twitter and pinterest, in fact, count more than 100.000 followers and more than 2 million of daily views!

What do you think about? Do you like her too?

  10. Awesome dresses and perfect color combo.
    The dress which has a velvet shirt and a jamawar Capri is one of the best outfits for weddings. You can easily wear them on any type of event or get together. These types of Pakistani party wear dresses can be improvised and can be used on many occasions. You can pair good combination of colors and dress up as per your choice. In winters, dark and dull colours are more in fashion so many people prefer to use the same in their winter dresses
    . As fashion is stepping up and people have been experimenting with the colour schemes and designs so that you have a huge amount of choice to get your dresses selected and stitched the way you like.
