Fashion trends S/S 2014

Tired of this cold long winter I decided to focus on summer. I know it's still far but, you know what they say, dream doesn't cost a thing. So I took a look to s/s 2014 fashion shows. A lot of proposals for the next season. Among confirmations and comebacks designers give space to minimal inclinations and exuberance translated in several creative themes like folk, pop and tribal.

ARTISTIC SPIRIT
Antonio Marras, Aquilano Rimondi, Prada, Jean Charles de Castelbajac, Giles
Oscar Wilde said that "one should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art". No quote is fairer to describe one of the coolest trend of s/s 2014. That's how bring to life clothes that look like paintings, that represent drawings and pictures of female faces, each of them inspired by the greatest artists like Paul Gauguin and Diego Rivera.

OPTICAL
Roland Mouret, Balmain, Rodarte, Derek Lam, Edun
Shows of brands like Balmain and Derek Lam brought on catwalk another of coolest trend of season: optical. Geometries of circles, squares and triangles declined in black & white version create a very cool optical graphic effect in which the mathematical precision and the rationality of colors create combinations marked by rigor.

SPORTY
Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Trussardi, Giambattista Valli, Francesco Scognamiglio
Great protagonist of past seasons, sporty style is proposed for s/s 2014 by designers like Balenciaga, Trussardi and Alexander Wang who reinvent the concept of sporty style. This season the sporty mood becomes more chic, it goes well with couture soul through volumes and the use of precious fabrics in the iconical white tones.

TRIBAL
Chanel, Christopher Kane, Missoni, Celine, Jil Sander
Bright and primary colors, garish patchworks of symbols and color spots are the main elements of tribal style, the showy trend proposed for s/s 2014 by Chanel and Missoni, among the others. From African tribalism to rock paintings, passing by the graffiti of the modern era, this trend is really energic and fresh, a little too caotic maybe, but definitely impressive.

ROCK ATTITUDE
Versace, Saint Laurent, Kenzo, Isabel Marant, Balmain
It seems to be inspired by the exhibition about punk movement helded in New York last 2013, named Punk: Chaos to Couture. The punk rock attitude, in fact, is one of the most sexy and interesting trends of s/s 2014 celebrated by Versace, Kenzo and Saint Laurent. Leather, lace, chains, studs (rigorously black) are the main ingredients for a trend that talks about rebellion, energy and freedom.

TRANSPARENCES
Calvin Klein, Erdem, Iceberg, Lacoste, Edun
Minimal chic attitude is the key to interpret the trend proposed by brands like Erdem and Iceberg. Soft, elegant trasparences create a sophisticated see through effect that emphasize the silhouette giving to these looks a cosmopolitan mood but also rational.

POP COLOR BLOCKING
Jeremy Scott, Emanuel Ungaro, Fausto Puglisi, Roksanda Ilincic, Roland Mouret
Is funny, lively and energic with an evident reference to 60's and 80's fashion. It was a true must of last s/s season 2012 and now color blocking is back in a new pop way in the collections of Jeremy Scott, Fausto Puglisi and Emanuel Ungaro. The inevitable colors are bright and shocking tones like yellow, fuchsia and orange that create a cool chaotic effect perfect for those who love to be noticed.

FOLK
Alberta Ferretti, MSGM, Mulberry, Manish Arora, Valentino
Inspired by 70's culture this trend, proposed by Mulberry and Valentino, is characterized by floral prints, embroidery and gispy/folk prints declined in the bright rainbow colors that create fresh and carefree summer looks.

FASHION TRIBE
Erdem, Missoni, Alexander McQueen, Celine, Chanel
Feather, fringe, abstract graphic prints and 3D effect. These are the main elements of Fashion Tribe style, one of the most interesting trends proposed for the next season by Chanel and Alexander McQueen. Inspired by tribal style, this trend make look models like modern amazon warrionrs.

PREPPY PINK
Chanel, Balmain, Prabal Gurung, Preen, John Galliano
In the vision of brands like Preen and Chanel, the next s/s season is preppy... and pink. Soft blouses, mini skirts and dresses are the main elemets. Chic, bon ton and ladylike these outfits reflect the "good girl" style thanks to wise use of many shades of pink.
